However, the possibility of induction increased. I bought this book about acupressure techniques that can teach you how to induce labor at home, a couple of days before, because I just wanted to learn more. Everything made sense. I’ve asked my doctor about it and he gave me the green light by saying that nothing bad can happen if I try. My husband agreed, despite being suspicious at the beginning. There was this site about the couple who wandered how to induce labor and finally did the same thing as we. He said, that also helped him to make his mind, cause sometimes it’s good to know that you’re not the only one…
The instructions were so easy to digest and apply. We did it gently for 20 to 30 minutes like the book suggested the very same night we made a decision to do it. Almost immediately I felt that something is going on by the way that my body reacted to applying pressure to 6 acupressure points, the way that Dr. Lena Leino suggested in her book. The very next morning I went into full labor, 12 hours in total after I tried acupressure, and I’ve had a normal delivery with epidural in 8 hours. I felt constant pain during those 8 hours, every minute since the beginning, but doctor said that everything is normal. My beautiful baby boy that weighted 4.5 kilos was born! I felt relief and gratitude to the author of the book, which I believe is one of the rare that is available online.

Great book. Easily to understand and practice. Thank you dear Dr. Lena for helping me so much. Your book Easier, Shorter and Safer Birth helped me a great deal. Even though I believe that everything I tried before, like pineapple juice, spicy foods and relaxation exercises and walking helped me too, I believe that the acupressure was the single most important thing to finally bring on labor, because I just do not believe in coincidence and there are so many people online, that have similar experiences with “how to induce labor” question.

How To Induce Labor Using Acupressure

I wasn’t happy with the fact that the week 40 has begun. But on the other side, I felt safe and confident. The best thing when thinking about how to induce labor naturally and safely, is that you improve quality of your life. You do the best things for your body and it’s easier than usual, because you are aware that you’re not doing that just for you, but for your baby’s sake too.

Thankfully to relaxation exercises and walks, I felt good in my body, although my stomach was bigger than ever. Doctor and my midwife were very convincing when claiming that baby is healthy, but doctor carefully suggested that in case that nothing happens until the end of week 40, I’ll probably have to seriously consider medical induction. I wasn’t satisfied, but I know from earlier that I could expect it.

I’ve heard for the acupressure a long time ago, and I’ve recently read a lot about how it can help to bring on labor. But, none of my friends ever used acupressure to induce. That was the big problem for me. I didn’t want to experiment, even though everything sounded very reasonable. Actually, I liked the whole idea. Someone should touch special points of my body (acupuncture points) and that should stimulate contractions in the most natural way. It was safe above everything, for both, baby and me. It was proven by usage through the centuries. But I still hesitated. It was something completely new and I wasn’t ready to give it a shot just like that. I thought so much about how to induce labor and didn’t want to make rash decision.

After I determined that my new keyword phrases for the last pregnancy days are SAFE FOR THE BABY AND ME and NATURAL ABOVE ALL, it seemed that the hard part was over. I was confident that the secret formula for how to induce labor naturally was finally complete.

Although the week 39 has begun, I could still walk pretty fast (for a pregnant girl!!) and thankfully to my best friend Ilona, I was never alone in the morning walks through the park nearby, and my husband was always there to accompany me at the evening, when he was back home from his job in a local hospital. I’m a kind of person who really enjoy long walks and maybe some of you are not so thrilled with the whole idea. I can understand that, but if you’re searching for an answer how to induce labor naturally, this may really help.

Long walks was not the only thing I tried. Wherever I found a helpful and safe advice how to induce labor, either online or in the books, I incorporated in my strategy. Spicy foods, pineapple…even an eggplant. I avoided bumpy car rides, which are also recommended by old wives’ tales, since I’m really not the kind of person who enjoys it…my spine doesn’t find that very healthy. But, I also included walking upstairs and downstairs, since it’s said that it helps the baby to drop down lower in the pelvic region, speed up the birth process, and take the best position. You’ll know that the baby has “dropped” by feeling the additional pressure on your cervix, more frequent going to the bathroom and you’ll suddenly breath much better, than in the previous stadium of pregnancy.

Almost forgot, exercises and fitness during pregnancy certainly help, but you don’t have to be Miss fitness to feel good. A few appropriate exercises per day will do. Ask your midwife or doctor to direct you. Week 39 slowly ended and I felt relaxed and strong. But, baby still didn’t come out. And that’s how the week 40 has started. How to induce labor naturally and safely was still an open question!

How To Induce Labor Safely

Finally! I’ve got it all right and passed through my 40 and a half week long pregnancy… I know it wasn’t the longest one, but I am so glad that it is over and that is right as it should be. Feel so lucky… I am so aware that there are a lot of you girls and future mums out there, that struggle with the question how to induce labor when the baby for some reason doesn’t want to come out. During the week 38 and 39, I was becoming more aware that the possibility of medical induction slowly increases. That was the breaking point for me.

I decided to do everything I can to trigger the labor safely and naturally. I’ve read soooo much about everything. Yahoo Answers section for pregnant ladies was my everyday-favorite company. I’ve read tons of articles and notes where pregnant girls like me, encourage and suggest one another what is the best to do and what is the safest way of how to induce labor . It eased my mind and relaxed me a lot, I confess. I knew I was not alone and just that… was big. But there was still too many different opinions and at first I was too scared if I would make the right choice.

First thing I decided was that I won’t do anything that incorporates the slightest amount of possibility that something bad will happen to my baby.

Very popular method in the past, using castor oil to induce labor, I left to be my last hope, since I concluded, after tons of material I’ve read, that the best time to use it, is when the contractions have begun and you are already dilated in some percentage, but it lasts too long and your body is so exhausted that it seems you cannot take it any more. And even then, it wasn’t the riskless option to follow. Even then, I learned, you should do nothing, without asking your midwife or doctor first, cause there is real possibility of severe diarrhea and fetal distress that may be consequence of strong contractions, caused by castor oil. I was lucky and chose the right way how to induce labor, so I didn’t have to decide about that at the end.
